Reciprocity and alignment: quantifying coupling in dynamic interactions

چکیده

Recent accounts of social cognition focus on how we do things together, suggesting that becoming aligned relies a reciprocal exchange information. The next step is to develop richer computational methods quantify the degree coupling and describe nature information exchange. We put forward definition coupling, comparing it related terminology detail, available level organization which they pertain, presenting them as hierarchy from weakest richest forms coupling. rationale temporally coherent link between two dynamical systems at lowest sustains mutual adaptation alignment highest level. Postulating when so dynamically over time argue determine measure instances true reciprocity in exchanges key. Along with this computationally rich present challenges for field be tackled by diverse community working towards dynamic account cognition.

Quantifying Reciprocity in Large Weighted Communication Networks

If a friend called you 50 times last month, how many times did you call him back? Does the answer change if we ask about SMS, or e-mails? We want to quantify reciprocity between individuals in weighted networks, and we want to discover whether it depends on their topological features (like degree, or number of common neighbors). Here we answer these questions, by studying the calland SMS record...

Dynamic alignment of artificial legs with the adjustable coupling.

SINCE World War II one of the most significant advances in limb prosthetics has been the introduction of rational principles for fitting and aligning artificial legs (2,11). The University of California (Berkeley—San Francisco), sponsored by the Veterans Administration, has been primarily responsible for the steady improvement in methods and devices used by prosthetists in artificial-leg constr...

Indirect reciprocity with optional interactions.

Indirect reciprocity is a mechanism for the evolution of cooperation that is relevant for prosocial behavior among humans. Indirect reciprocity means that my behavior towards you also depends on what you have done to others. Indirect reciprocity is associated with the evolution of social intelligence and human language. Most approaches to indirect reciprocity assume obligatory interactions, but...

A system for quantifying dynamic protein interactions defines a role for Herceptin in modulating ErbB2 interactions.

The orphan receptor tyrosine kinase ErbB2 is activated by each of the EGFR family members upon ligand binding. However, difficulties monitoring the dynamic interactions of the membrane receptors have hindered the elucidation of the mechanism of ErbB2 activation. We have engineered a system to monitor protein-protein interactions in intact mammalian cells such that different sets of protein inte...

Advanced and upper-intermediate EFL learners’ reciprocity to mediation: A dynamic listening assessment

The present study aimed to capture and represent the mediator-learner’s interaction in the development of listening proficiency and statistically compare this interaction between high and low proficient English as a foreign language (EFL) learners. Thirty EFL learners participated in Oxford Quick Placemat Test (OQPT) and the Interactions/Mosaic Listening Placement (IMLP) Test to select those wh...
